Ryder

We adopted Ryder about 3 months ago after seeing him at PetSmart. We actually were there to look at three other dogs but while waiting for them to arrive, my daughter helped get the cages for the other dogs set up and held Ryder. She proceeded to fall in love with him, even though we were not looking for a male or a puppy or a dog that would get very big. A few other people were actually in line before us to possibly receive Ryder but due to their generosity and fate, Ryder became ours two days later.

We wanted another dog because our daughter's best friend of 7 years had been put to sleep last year. Our other dog also missed having a playmate. It took our dog a week or so to get used to Ryder and all his energy (he kind of tricked us at the petshop and was very quiet and snuggly). But he did wonderfully with his crate training and our daughter did all the hard work of taking him out even in the cold winter weather.

He is doing just great as part of our family now and the two dogs wrestle and play all the time. He and our daughter were inseperable but he is now entering teenage years and getting more independent. Ryder thankfully doesn't seem like he is going to be very big and we still don't know for sure what kind of breed he is mixed with.

We are thankful for all the hard work his foster mother did to keep him healthy and start him off right in his training.
Thank you Metroplex Mutts!
